Checklist

Maintenance Assessment Preparation Checklist

A practical list of records, people, access, safety controls, and machinery information to prepare before a scoped factory maintenance assessment.

Use this checklist to make an assessment more useful:

  • Nominate the management contact, maintenance lead, and site safety contact.
  • Define the area, line, assets, or problem in scope.
  • Prepare induction, permit, isolation, access, and PPE requirements.
  • Collect available asset lists, manuals, drawings, PM schedules, and breakdown records.
  • Identify recurring failures, critical spares, temporary repairs, and open actions.
  • Confirm whether photographs are permitted and how confidential information will be controlled.
  • Make representative technicians, operators, and supervisors available.
  • Note any inaccessible, operating, contaminated, or unsafe equipment.
  • Agree the expected report, presentation, and action-review process.

Unknown information should be marked for verification rather than guessed.
